To effectively remove blood stains, it's better to break the
stain molecule in half or into more than two pieces. When you
do this, the molecule loses its color properties and the carpet or
garment appears spotless. It's an amazing chemical reality
and efficient blood stain remover.
Removing blood stains is very easy if you use an oxygen
bleach. Oxygen bleach contains pure oxygen ions which act
like microscopic missiles that attack stains, but not the object that
got stained. This is very important, as other bleaches are
not as discriminating.
Oxygen bleach proves to be a successful blood stain cleaner and is not
as harsh as the traditional chlorine bleach you may have in your
home. Chlorine bleach is so powerful that the stain-blasting
chlorine ions in the liquid do all sorts of collateral
damage. The chlorine bleach can damage and weaken fibers and
fade or totally remove synthetic dyes. Chlorine bleach also
has a distinctive odor that bothers many people.
Oxygen bleach is rarely this harsh. It has no odor and it's
virtually fabric and color safe for all items. The only
things that are adversely affected by oxygen bleach are wool and silk.
To test how to remove blood stains using oxygen bleach, all you have to
do is mix the oxygen-bleach powder with water, stir it and let it
dissolve. To remove blood stains from carpet, just saturate
the stain with this solution and let it sit for ten or fifteen
minutes. Dab the stained area with a clean towel trying to
blot up the solution. Usually you never have to scrub the
carpet fibers. Remember, though, that you shouldn't use this
on a wool carpet, as discoloration may appear. The longer you
allow the solution to soak, the easier it is to remove the
stain. The oxygen ions are busy breaking apart all the blood
stain molecules while you can work on other chores or relax.
To treat blood stain clothes, mix the solution the same way.
Always use cold water for blood stains. Make enough solution
so the article can be fully immersed. Agitate the article
every 30 minutes if possible to ensure the oxygen solution soaks all
areas. Spot cleaning is not recommended. By soaking
the entire garment, you get the added benefit of deep cleaning any old
residual stains that might be in the fabric.
It's best to work with a fresh blood stain, but Stain Solver oxygen
bleach will
often remove set blood stains or ones that have been in a fabric or
carpet for years. Some people reported success at removing a
blood stain that was eight-years old from cherished hand-knitted
sweaters.
